Music and Mom for Labor Day

We enjoyed a lovely BBQ with Mom at Heidi’s Chateau, today.  Heidi’s is the assisted living home that Mother is living in, now.  It makes me sad not to spend as much time with her as we used to.  The weather was perfect, cool breeze and sunshine.  The staff at Heidi’s was especially cheery and served such a nice meal with a choice of burgers, hot dogs and even BBQ chicken moist and yummy.  After the festivities outside that about 60 guests enjoyed with their aging family and friends, some of them gathered around the piano for Stefi and I to play and sing for them for about an hour.  We played Blessed Assurance, Caballo Viejo(para Maria), Your Cheatin’ Heart and many more.  Mom sang along on many of the songs.  Though she couldn’t always keep up with the tempo, I could still hear her sweet voice ring through as if she were young again and the spirit in which she sang was that to aspire to.  I love you Momma.  Thank you for such a nice time.
