The little darlings came out of their shells, today. The Killdeers! They are so soft and fuzzy and cute as can be………It’s been a wonderful day, watching them hatch and lie there in their rocky nest……..waiting to become strong enough to run off and enjoy the world. I wonder how long it will be before they can fly. The mother and father were at the height of their performances and must have been exhausted from all of the screeching and injured dancing. Two of the little fellas have gotten up and stumbled off into the brush. They looked like quick little drunkards, weaving back and forth trying to keep themselves upright! Two are still lying there in the rocks and the pair of adults are keeping them warm and safe. I do hope that they will enjoy their independence, tomorrow and that the cats don’t find them………..mmmmm
Mom spent some time watching friends play bridge, this afternoon. She was able to keep score! Yay! We spent the evening outside where I grilled brats and we sat on the porch, listening to the birds and watching the antics of our new little Momma and Daddy killdeer. I played my guitar to serenade them as we watched the full moon rise above the mountains. It was a beautiful night and Stefi mentioned it over and over. We have such a good life.
