Gee, it’s good……….
Back in Colorado and trying to catch up…..as usual…..It was a great week in the office and though I’ve missed having my family in the house and the dogs and I are so attached to each other due to the quietness and loneliness…..It’s give me some real concentrated time with Roberto(my guitar). I ordered an ergoplay that has made playing my guitar for hours at a time less stressful on my back.
I have been spending so much time learning new music. It’s such an unexpected rush, really. After several years of NOT being able to play. I guess I must be feeling the way that I did when I first was infected with the musical bug…..when I was 11. Carulli’s Duet in D is coming along and I played about 2/3 or it, yesterday with Javier. We plan to play it for a masters class with James Smith on June 3rd. I hope that I can find enough time to perfect it, at least enough not to trip while playing it. Playing with a partner is a new challenge for me. You can ABSOLUTELY NOT make a mistake or everything can fall apart! And if your partner trips up, YOU have to be able to hold it together while they find themselves. It’s very tricky. Javier and I were practicing some little showy glances back and forth between each other at good dramatic moments in our piece and even THAT can distract you enough that when you return to your music you’ve lost it, somehow.
In the past two weeks I’ve learned “Besame Mucho”, “Downtown” the duet and am perfecting my new original classical piece, “Head in the Clouds”. So far they’ve all gotten to performance level except for the duet. But, two weeks from NOW, it will be ready……………IF I stop writing and spend some time on it!
Thank you for reading and I hope that your life and Spring are what you want…………Remember that being “happy” is a state of mind……….only YOU can make it happen.
