It’s Sunday and I can’t imagine a more perfect day! As I write, I’m listening to Andrea Bocelli’s serenade of “Besame Mucho”. Ahhhhhh what a wonderful momentary escape. His voice is like butter. I’m learning “Besame Mucho” for my show at Otra Vez in Los Barriles on May 8th. I’ve always loved thissong, but didn’t realize how popular it is….Everytime anyone knows that I sing ANYTHING in Spanich, they ask for “Besame Mucho! Sometimes I resist the frequently requested songs because you can really get sick of singing them……But, this one is so beautiful and Andrea’s voice is such an inspiration. I hope that when I sing it I will melt hearts with my voice as he does with his.
I played guitar with Javier, again, yesterday and I think that the combination of our talents will prove to be wonderful. He’s young and doesn’t have a lot of performing experience. But, his feel for the music is very good and with his recent education, he’s offered to help me with the transcriptions of my original instrumentals. That’s really exciting! What a wonderful thought to muse that someone might actually play my music, years after my death and think longingly about me, as I did for Fernando……..sigh…..Fernando Sor……O Fernando……Mmmmm
OK, enough of my fantasy life……**giggle*
Music is such a universal language. It spans space and time and language beariers. It’s like of like a smile, in some ways……at least when you’re face to face. But, now with the internet and recordings that can be easily shared, you don’t have to be face to face to communicate through the wonderful language of music. One of my greatest fans, right now, is in Italy. He doesn’t speak English and I don’t speak Italian. But, he always listens to my music and comments so encouragingly about it. Thank GOD for Good translate! I just cut and paste his comments into google translate and then put MY response into it to send it back! So far, I don’t think I’ve said anything embarrassing, anyway. **chuckle*** I’m sure it’ll come some day. Anyway, THANK YOU BRUNO for being so supportive. :o) Isn’t that a great name! ……….. Brrrrrrruno? Be sure to roll the RRrrrrr
Well, I’m going to spend time learning Besame Mucho, this afternnon and Javier and I are going to play Carrulli’s “Duet in D” when I get back from Mexico. So, I’d better get to work! It’s three movements and about 10 pages long. It’s really beautiful. We played the final movement of it, yesterday “Minore” and it was so much fun playing it while hearing the other part. It’s like DANCING! and I’d ALWAYS rather dance with a partner.
Well, take care and have a lovely day!
God Bless,
Mary
I’m looking forward to hearing your music! I would love to hear it live in Mexico.
Well, with all of the Swine Flu excitement, the tickets are probably pretty cheap! Thanks for reading, Larry. :o) from Mary
