Hi, again, I wish you could have been there tonight. It was definite perfection. It had snowed off and on throughout the day and at about 4:30, there wasn’t a wisp of wind and the temperature was about 35 degrees. I had promised Stefi that if the conditions were right, we’d take her fire bag(the name we’ve given her bag of completed school work) and celebrate with a wiener and marshmallow roast in our fire pit. So, celebrate we did!
We tromped through the crust of the snow out to our little forest that Craig and the girls had decorated sparsely with Christmas lights. It was just getting dark and the lights hadn’t turned on quite yet. We ended up at the snow filled fire pit. Stefi and I dumped it out over the edge of the hill. She’s such a strong and strong willed little lady.
We fought with the soggy logs and our poor fire starting skills until we finally had a roaring fire. The roasted wieners and marshmallows were yummy and we shared hot chocolate that had been given to us by a wonderful neighbor. The fire crackled and popped, the stars twinkled and we all were happy that we’d made the effort to go for it. It would have been very easy to have sit tight in our cozy house, missing the experience and memory that we created. Our toes got tingly and cold and we had to pack up and come in for a hot bath and a kiss good-night. Thank you, God, for a perfect day.
It’s still kind of odd writing to you this. So, when you’re here, please drop me a little comment to let me know that you’re there so I can imagine your face.
