Spanish music from a blonde mother, daughter, doctor takes more work than you might THINK!

What a day!  But, it’s good exhaustion and I’m very happy with the recordings that I brought home.

Saw 3 patients before leaving for the recording studio at 8:30 this morning.  Had to take the dogs with me and check on them every two hours in the van.  My father-in-law had a doctor’s appointment with a specialist about a leg tumor and so I was calling between recordings to check on the outcome of that…it was fine, Thank God.  Mother had a rough night, so on the hour drive to the studio, I talked to my brother, two doctors, played tag with a hospice worker and talked to the owner at Heidi’s, where Mom is staying, twice.  Recorded guitar tracks and vocals for 4 Spanish songs, with a language coach stopping me to fix my Kansas-tainted Mexican-Spanish accent too often.  Helped Javier, my wonderfully talented friend- classical/Spanish guitarist arrange his part for the 3 of the 4 songs.   Niki and I tesxted several times celebrating her finishing a long novel she was working on.  She, Craig and Stefi are still farming in Iowa.  Finally lost my voice, had to quit recording.  Got an emergency call from a patient on the way home from the studio, so stopped at the office to see them before coming home… and I JUST got home at 8:30!!  Good thing I was well rested!  I’m ready to fall into bed and sleep another ELEVEN HOURS!  Hopefully, that will happen.  Last night, I was singing Spanish songs in my head all night long, dragging out every “d” that sounds like a backwards “th” and every “n” with a little wavy line above it and every “v” that REALLY sounds more like a “b”!!!  What has possessed me to sing in a language that I don’t SPEAK!!!???   Chuckle***

It reminds me of the painting in the “cave” room at my office that Evel Keneval painted of a bowl of flowers.  When he traded me that signed print for one of my recordings years ago, he told me that he loved doing things that people would never expect him to do.  I suppose that seeing the looks on some faces as they hear passionate Spanish music coming from a blond Kansas farm girl is something that will warm my heart and make me grin, just like Evel did about his bowl of beautiful flowers.  Just hope I’m pulling it off.

Wish me luck and thanks for reading.  This project won’t get finished without lots of determination and focus on the finish.  And thanks to God for another glorious day.  I’m headed for a long soak and sweet dreams…

‘night,

Mary
