Well, a week ago, my mother had surgery and I will break this blog entry into several to describe the experiences throughout the week. Mom and I went to the hospital for a surgery that was expected to be fairly routine. She was scheduled to leave the hospital and come home to her family on Tuesday sometime. Several babies became impatient and Mom’s surgery kept being pushed back…….Luckily, I thought to take my guitar and during the 5 hours that we waited in the pre-op area she and I had some lovely moments. I played classically for hours. There was a mentally challenged boy who was very stressed next to us and I was told later that he was calmed and loving the music and would hate it when I stopped. Next to us on the other side was a 5 year old little girl who had broken her arm and was having to have it pinned. I gave several of the children’s CDs that day. Just before going in, Mom sang with me.
