Our Private Concert

Endre Bolough and James Smith
Endre Balogh and James Smith

James Smith and Endre Balogh graced us with a breath-taking performance at the Acute Rehab Unit at the Montrose Hospital, this afternoon.  Mom had been very sorry that she couldn’t be at the concert, last night.  And the call from James asking if we’d like them to come and perform began the positive movement of the afternoon.  Jeanne and John Precup brought BBQ chicken and ribs from Rib City and it was such a special moment in our day.

James had surgery in January for a brain tumor in the right temporal lobe and has recently had radiation treatments.  It’s amazing what beautiful music comes from his heart.  But,  sharing this intense focus and expression with us exhausts him, especially with the schedule that he is expecting from himself.  As I said, earlier, he just flew to CA from Geneva on Thursday, then flew here on Friday, did their concert in Delta, Saturday and NOW is generous with his talents with us, today.  No WONDER he is exhausted!

My mother waved her hand in the time of the music, sang on Danny Boy…..probably NOT as much under her breath as she though….:o)….and clapped happily after each and ever song.  She even asked for her sketch book and did some drawing while the music was being played.  It’s such a promising thing to see that she can be inspired.

She’s still disoriented and the intensity of her desire to leave, somehow, is increasing. Pray for peace of mind and patience for her and for all of us.  She has so much, yet, to offer this world.  We are ALL learning each and every day from this difficult experience.  I’m fighting a touch of worried depression, praying to God that he will sustain my faith and positive nature.  It’s more difficult when I’m tired.

Mom is watching a movie and Taylor is going to sit with her, tonight.  She’s been very helpful.  Samantha has also sat with her.  Bobbie and Deanna and Kim and Josh and many more have been great to help with Mom.  Thank you to all of you.

‘night, and thank you, as always, for your prayers and visits for Mom.  Hugs, Mary
