Will pigs fly????

Well, I’ve put off my flight to Mexico until tomorrow.  Hopefully, there won’t be any piggies on my flights.  I keep going back and forth on whether it’s wise to go or not……with many people pulling in each direction and such sensationalized news reports on what seems to be similar to a common flu outbreak, it’s not surprising that people are clutching.  It all seems like a lot of hype to me…….But, then again, I’d feel silly if I “poo pooed” it and we all died, now wouldn’t I?  The makers of Tamiflu must be partying this week, however.  It’s the recommended treatment and even preventitave for this piggy flu.  I decided to get me a script to take down, since they said that it’s not available in Mexico………….ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTEEN DOLLARS!!!!!!  Of course I got a  $10 discount, so it was really cheap for me……*ha*.  When checking on-line, before this outbreak, these TEN capsules were selling for about $40.  I’ve been wondering who might be benefiting from this possible cry about wolves or the sky falling around us…..and so far, I see only the drug companies cleaning up.  I’m sure, if I think longer, something else obvious might come to mind.  If you see it, let me know……….Otherwise, it’s mostly tragic for economics for both Mexico and the US.  Even the resturant that I sing in on Friday, Otra Vez, in Los Barilles is feeling the crunch.  There haven’t been ANY cases confirmed for the Baja and yet, people are  afraid to eat out!  The local farmer’s market, there has closed down and several other local gatherings have postponed until further notice.   I tend to be very skeptical………Especially after all of the warnings about violent crime in Mexico over the past year!  In Los Barriles, violent crime is nearly non-existent.  I’m glad that they’ve let us know where the bad neighborhoods are, at the borders and larger cities…..but, If you travel to the middle of where all the drug activity is…….and WHO would knowingly DO THAT???…….you are going to be in the possible cross-fire, the same way that you would put yourself in danger in ANY of the large cities in the US where the same activity is prevelant.  I wouldn’t want to be in the wrong neighborhoods in LA or Phoenix and would definitely rather be in my little sleepy Mexican village on the Baja than in one of the more violent spots in a big US city…….But, have we heard any bulletins warning us NOT to travel to THESE cities???

Anyway, my ramblings are basically to convince myself that I should still go, tomorrow, I suppose……….. and that the media is fueled by nothing better to cover(which is actually GOOD news).  I’ll wash my hands and keep my hands away from my face and take good care of myself………..Oh, my friend Ben, who is picking me up from the airport is bring me a gift, he says, something left over from his dog’s healing injuries.  He says it’s RED…..OOOO, sexy…..   **chuckle**  I told him that instead of a face mask, we should all be wearing those cone-shaped dog collars that keep dogs from scratching their head!  If we wore THESE things, no one could transmit this critter from their own hand to their face…………Hmmmmm………….thinking a little further, though…….this might mean that you’d have to ask the fella next to you to pick your nose……..hmmmmmm..UGH….guess that might reduced the effectiveness of such a contraption.

Never lose your sense of humor!   and NEVER let someone ELSE pick your NOSE!
